impacting italy through church leaders

About ITA

Our history

Anthony Rossi’s evangelistic trips to Messina, Italy, grew into a church that eventually became Bible Alliance Mission (later renamed Aurora Mission). Aurora Mission was originally designed to send and support missionaries to establish churches in Italy. However, as our annual FOCUS conferences exposed Italian church leadership to expository preaching, these leaders expressed a desire to learn how to preach in an expository way to their congregations. Consequently, the School of Expository Preaching, a two-year course with 2 two-week modules, was developed in 2004.

Because students from the school have requested continued training, the Expository Preaching Program has become now just one of several programs under the  Italian Theological Academy (which remains a branch of Aurora Mission). As the years went by more programs have been added:  Systematic Theology Program, New & Old Testament Bible Survey Programs, a Church History Program, and a Biblical Counseling Program.  More programs continue to be evaluated and added based on the ministry needs that are presented to us.

In addition to these programs, annual FOCUS conferences continue to provide insight and encouragement for those serving the church in Italy.

The other great need of the Italian pastors was for Bible study and sermon preparation materials in their own language. Therefore, since 2000, Aurora Mission has undertaken the task of translating and publishing these materials. This ministry is now under the oversight of the Italian Theological Academy as well.
